The
History of the Luxury Train of India
The Palace on wheels was constructed for the erstwhile Indian royalty. This
heritage train of Rajasthan comprised of personal coaches of the former
rulers of the princely states of Gujarat and Rajputana, the Viceroy of
British India and the Nizam of Hyderabad.
After independence, the palace on wheels - the luxury train of India was
abandoned and it was not until the early 1980s that the train was
reconsidered. The Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and the Indian
Railways decided to introduce it as a special heritage tourist train to
Rajasthan. Since then, the train has entertained people from all over the
world.

The history of Rajasthan dates back to 2500 BC. The greatest influence in
Rajasthan was of the various Rajput dynasties. The Rajput kings and noblemen
were famous for their valor, chivalry and elaborate code of honor. Their

monuments, palaces, "havelis", temples and forts that stand tall

Booking Conditions ---
Palace
On Wheels Train Tour Booking Procedure (AMENDED on 10 May,2007)
(1) We require names of all the passengers with nationality.
(2) Bookings will be confirmed against receipt of MINIMUM 50% advance
deposit of Total Value of Palace On Wheels Train Ticket
(3) Balance Payment must reach us ATLEAST 70 Days before departure date
with Passport details of all passengers(passport number;place & date of
issue of passport;date of birth of children ,if applicable)
Mode of Payment
After you have been informed that booking is available on your travel date
of preference; Payment can be forwarded within TIME LIMIT Period intimated
by
1. Online Credit Card Authorization by Visa Or MasterCard
OR
2. Money Transfer to bank under intimation.
OR
3. Any other payment method mutually suitable.
Palace On Wheels Train Tour Cancellation
Rules
Palace On Wheels Train Tour is a joint collaboration between Ministry of
Indian Railways & State Govt Of Rajasthan & rules are accordingly
framed
1. Any request made for amendment in tour dates is treated as cancellation
request.
2. The Palace On Wheels Train tour bookings are Non-endorsable.
3. Action on cancellation of booking will only be proceeded on receipt of
written request.
4. MINIMUM 20% (twenty) of ticket value will be charged as cancellation fee
,if request made >90 days before depart date
5. MINIMUM 50% (fifty) of ticket value will be charged as cancellation fee
,if request made between 61 to 90 days before depart date
6. Full 100% of Total Ticket value, will be charged as cancellation fee ,if
request made <60 days before depart date
7. No-Show OR short journey Or curtailment of journey by self ,is NON
REFUNDABLE
8. Demand of refund and/or refusal to travel ,due change in tour program or
tariff , is governed by cancellation policy
9. Disputes, if any, are subject to jurisdiction of New Delhi (India)
courts only.

* The Onboard Management of Palace on Wheels Train Tour reserves the right
to curtail/amend local tours & excursions, at short notice, without any
liability.
* There is no concept of tour insurance in India,at present
